Apocalypse Now: The Disappearance of Insects by John Cebula

Description

John Cebula, a retired college instructor and life-long naturalist, examines the vital role insects play in both environmental and human economic health. He talks about the reasons for the decline of insects, and what we can do to lessen and perhaps reverse this trend. at 6:45 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library. 
 
Cebula is a retired high school teacher and college instructor who, since retiring, devotes himself to nature education. Besides monitoring birds for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources through participating in winter and spring bird counts, John conducted the first survey of reptiles and amphibians in DuPage County for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. 

For the past four years, John has monitored butterflies on the Russell R. Kirt Prairie at College of DuPage. He has published in a variety of magazines and journals on topics as diverse as dragonflies, depictions of birds in Western art, and his daily encounters with reptiles in Florida. John presents a variety of nature-themed programs throughout northern Illinois and Gulf Coast Florida.
