Description

Frankenstein, considered the world’s first science fiction novel, was written by a 19-year-old woman named Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley. But the story of how she came to write such a powerful, gripping, seminal novel reveals the painful struggle of a brilliant and rebellious mind. Born of two idealistic and revolutionary parents, Mary rebelled against English social norms to have a relationship with romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary’s life experiences add up to “a dark and stormy night” when a story born on a dare liberated her genius. Registration is required, but a Batavia Public Library card is not required for this free event.
