LaVon is known for mixing a bit of humor, warmth, and empathy into her groups and dementia education. She has several goals in mind as she helps navigate the weeds of dementia care: 1) making sure caregivers do not feel alone 2) making sure caregivers rest well at night 3) helping caregivers return to their roles as spouse, child, etc. by getting the supports they need to supplement care. 4) helping caregivers find something beautiful and redeeming in the muck of care-giving, much like spotting a beautiful dragonfly while trekking in a swamp.
